MATERIALS / SELECTION

Choose materials for their actual use conditions.

Start with heat exposure, flexibility, outdoor use, strength requirements and the printer’s capabilities.

Common material families

PLA

Easy to print in many machines, but not automatically suitable for high ambient temperatures.

PETG

Popular for functional parts, with different bridging and bed-adhesion behavior compared with PLA.

TPU

Flexible prints; hardness and extrusion system design strongly affect compatibility.

ASA

Often considered for outdoor uses. Requires suitable thermal conditions and careful emission/ventilation management.

PA / Nylon

Suitable for selected engineering applications; moisture management and machine requirements are critical.

Fiber-filled filaments

Check nozzle abrasion, drying, print settings and manufacturer specifications.

No universal print temperatures: always consult the specific filament maker, machine and nozzle setup. Follow appropriate ventilation and emissions precautions.
